Daniel Burton faces an extremely tough situation when his son Bobber is struck by an automobile. Bobber faces an extensive surgery that will have a long recovery. This is when Rodney Freeman has a chance to repay the love shown to him by Daniel. Daniel had raised Rodney as his own son. Rodney has grown to be a successful writer who has the financial means to fly Bobber and Daniel to the West Coast where Bobber can have all his medical needs met. Things continue to look better for Bobber as he meets a physical rehab specialist named Briony. Briony soon gains affection for both her patient and his widowed father, and she decides to return with them to help with Bobber's recovery along with enjoying a big family Christmas with the Burtons.
