Bringing the Bible to Life
It's quite an ambitious undertaking to attempt to create a miniseries or a movie that accurately portrays the Bible. It's important to not lose any important historic details and also to make a compelling and informative film. It's important to keep viewers interested and yet not depict the Bible as a fictional story. This delicate balance is extremely difficult to achieve, but the producers of the A.D. series were able to create a beautifully balanced film.
A.D. The Trials and Triumph of the Early Church is a wonderful resource and teaching tool for those who want to know more about the early church. It is informative, yet highly entertaining. The book of Acts is brought to life, connecting viewers with the Bible and inspiring them to read their Bibles.
This miniseries was so successful, that many years later, 20th Century Fox attempted to create a TV series that chronicled the entire Bible. The Bible: The Epic Miniseries was a ten part series that had a huge following. This project was massive and required many hours of hard work and dedication. However, the result was a breathtakingly beautiful depiction of the Bible. Though not able to feature every single story in the Bible, for obvious reasons, the series did an amazing job at highlighting key points of the Word of God and creating a very inspiring drama. This series captured moments such as Adam and Eve's life in the garden, Noah and the flood, the birth of Isaac, Abraham's son, the life of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea, David and Goliath, Delilah and Samson, the divine conception and birth of Jesus, as well as the crucifixion. Tangible and captivating, The Bible: The Epic Miniseries strove to accurately portray the Bible and create something that viewers were able to connect to.
After the extreme success of this miniseries, the producers decided to create another series that picked up where The Bible left off. In late 2015, A.D. The Bible Continues was aired as a twelve part series. Following the wake of Jesus' death, it tells much the same story as A.D. The Trials and Triumph of the Early Church. The disciples' devotion and dedication to spreading the Gospel after Christ's death and resurrection create a powerful testimony for viewers. Their unabashed love and zeal for proclaiming the holy message is vivid and wonderful, filling the screen. Featuring an extremely talented international cast, realistic visual effects, and fast paced action, this series is not one to be missed.
These amazing series prove a point that the Bible is not dead or outdated, but is living and active. The stories in the Bible are not merely stories, but are the accounts of real historical figures and amazing events.
