Phil Vischer established what is known today as VeggieTales in 1990 and the company grew into an extremely successful ministry. In 2003, Phil left the company even though he continued to contribute his voice for the characters. Vischer wrote a series about his experience called "What Happened to Big Idea?" After a couple of other projects, in 2008 he started Jelly Fish labs and JellyTelly as a new way to reach kids with the message of Jesus.
Originally the JellyTelly website served for subscriptions but now although still a subscription site, it includes free content as well. There people would find puppet characters like Buck Denver, Sunday School Lady, and more. Also there interviews with kids and interactions with the Bentley Brothers. In actuality, JellyTelly teaches children about Jesus and Christianity through programs based on the internet. At one point in 2009, Phil Vischer and JellyTelly released that they were getting together with Tyndale House Publishing and Focus on the Family and make a series for children titled "What's In the Bible" with episodes like Buck Denver Asks What's in the Bible? Vol. 12: Letters From Paul. The goal of this 13 part series was to guide kids through a walk with Christ and to understand the Bible. Which seemed like a difficult trek but were eager to make the project possible.
