Ray Vander Laan studied in Westminster Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania by the time of 1976 and received his Master's Degree in Divinity. Since then, Vander Laan has vigorously been a part of studying and training others about the Jewish culture utilizing a Jewish education approach. Throughout the years Ray Vander Laan has continued his graduate studies in Jewish Studies in several countries like Turkey, Israel and Egypt. For more than 35 years he has been active in teaching others and is also an invested minister by the Christian Reformed Church. Besides being involved with teaching and his ministry, Vander Laan has released a book titled "Echoes of His Presence" which was published by the known Christian organization Focus on the Family.
