The Christian Faith
The founder of this religion is Jesus Christ; additionally, he is where it got its name. It is said by many followers and written in the Bible that Jesus is the Son of God, and was born of a virgin to come down from Heaven and pay for the sins of humanity.
Jesus was born to Mary and Joseph, who both were told by angels that their boy would be special, though in what way they weren't sure. It became evident in his later years why he was sent. As a child, he often spent time at the local temple, learning all he could about God. As he got older, Jesus formed a group of disciples, people he specifically called upon to help him spread the news he'd was destined share. These disciples consisted of twelve men alone, from all places and professions; Peter, Andrew, James the son of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, Simon the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon, and Judas Iscariot, who would betray Jesus.
Jesus performed many miracles such as curing terminal illnesses and deformities, walking on water, and even raising the dead. Crowds of people showed up to listen to his teachings every day, but the government soon grew angry with his so-called blasphemy' and he was crucified. However, it is said that on the third day after his death, the stone was found removed from his tomb, and Jesus rose from the dead. From there, he directed the message he began be relayed for years to come until his return. His disciples remained faithful in him and spread the news in his absence.
Some key beliefs in Christianity include having faith that Jesus died for all the people on Earth, and trying to live like he did. Which means following the instructions given to humanity in the bible. It is said that, if a person believes Jesus came to Earth and died for them, that they shall be saved and go to live with him in Heaven after they pass away. The alternative is condemnation and an eternity of suffering in a place most refer to as Hell. It is said that when God created man, he wanted to be able to share a relationship with his children, but since we are sinful and he is holy, we are separated. In order to bridge this gap between him and all of us, God sent his one and only son to live a sin-free life and die on behalf of man who could not save themselves. Jesus did so, and in turn, when a human lives a life believing that Jesus sacrificed for them, God sees Jesus's innocence instead of the sin.
Christianity is not only the most practiced religion in the world, it has made the most impact in people's lives. Many individuals have, through this religion alone, found the calling in their lives. They've been moved to help others and strive to be holy in their existence. Many have come to have a relationship God, and have become preachers or missionaries.
Christianity is not too complicated, but it's definitely challenging to do all of what's asked of us, even for the most devoted Christian. Jesus wants to have a relationship with you, God wants to be able to be with you. All they're asking is that you believe in what Jesus did for the human race. Luckily, Christianity isn't about religion, it's about the relationship.
