The Bible Collection: Moses Story and Message

The story told in Moses: The Bible Collection is divided into two parts. The first part starts in Egypt where there is a cruel persecution of Hebrew male newborn babies. With this, Ptira, the Pharaoh's daughter finds baby Moses near where she stood on the Nile River. Moses spends his childhood in the palace but his youth at the court is cut short when he kills an Egyptian to protect his brother Aaron. Because of this, Moses has to leave the Pharaoh's court and live in exile. During his exile Moses meets a man named Jethro and his daughter named Zipporah who he soon marries. After he marries Zipporah, the event that began everything happened. God appears to Moses from The Bible Collection: Moses through a burning bush and ordered him to go back to Egypt with his wife and his brother Aaron. Back in Egypt, Moses and Aaron present themselves in front of Pharaoh and demand that the Israelites be freed. Since he wouldn't permit it, different kinds of plagues overcame Egypt and not till the tenth plague arrived and his son was deceased did he allow the Israelites to leave. The first part of the story ends after God's people is free from the Egyptian army after being destroyed and crossing the Red Sea safely.

The second part of the story of Moses: The Bible Collection starts with the families showing Moses their displeasure due to being hungry. God provides for them and nourishes their bodies with manna and quails from above so they could survive in the desert. Below Mount Sinai Israel and God begin a Covenant which is complete with Moses receiving the law, the Ten Commandments at the top of the mountain. As he returns down to his people Moses is horrified when he realizes that the Israelites have lost their sight from God and have begun to worship an idol, a golden calf. In frustration and anger Moses throws the stone where the laws were written on and punishes greatly those who were idolizing the calf. Later on he arises to the top of Mount Sinai once again and receives another set of the same commandments. On the trek towards the Promised Land, Moses' sister Miriam becomes jealous of Moses' wife and goes against her brother's guidance. God disciplines her and clearly lets her know that Moses from The Bible Collection: Moses DVD is the chosen one to lead them towards Canaan. Now very near of The Promised Land, the Israelites choose twelve people who will go into Canaan and spy on how life is lived there. Being back, the Israelites are horrified when they hear the descriptions of the Canaanites and rebel against Moses and his brother. Some Israelite rebels want to kill them and question the reason why did they leave Egypt in the first place. The Lord rapidly punishes those who rebelled and warns Moses that none of the adult Israelites will enter the Promised Land and instead should walk through the desert for 40 more years. Forty years after, Moses' sister Miriam passes away. Even though Moses wanted to properly mourn her, the Israelites complain to him on how there was no water. Following God's order, Moses hits a rock and water flows for people to drink but since he is so mad and frustrated, he doesn't give God the glory for the miracle and as a consequence Moses cannot enter the Promised Land as well, he'll only see it from a distance. Moses declares the young Joshua from The Bible Collection: Moses DVD as the next-in-line to lead Israel into the Promised Land and alone goes and treks up Mount Nebo. Because God is filled with grace, forgiveness and mercy, God gives Moses the opportunity to see the Promised Land from its distance just before he passes away. Now Israel is under the leadership of Joshua and they all cross the Jordan River in hopes of finally entering the land of Canaan, the Promised Land.
