Description

Christian Movies: Auto B Good Season 2 Vol 5 Playing It Fair DVD

You’ll be hooked too when you choose Auto-B-Good for a fun filled family night.  With the soundtrack in its 50’s rock’n’roll swing, and nine animated engaging CARaracters carrying powerful messages relevant to children of all ages, you’ll be coming back again and again to these wonderfully told stories.

A Good Family TV Series

With the nine different characters, your child is sure to enjoy and relate with many of them.  There are a wide range of characters; from old to young, like Johnny, a Dodge Viper, who is young, showy and loves a good challenge or like Franklin who is an old 1930 Model T80, and has a full life to draw wisdom and advice from for the other cars.  Or Miles, a 1970 Volkswagen, who balances out Johnny’s daring character with a solid conscience and maturity, and strives to steer the group in directions that are right and good for them.  Derek, a Dodge Ram, is the car you might not think he is, with looks to intimidate, but actually is gentle and a peacemaker of the group.  And Maria with her love of four wheeling and soccer, will resonate well with those who love the outdoors.   Your kids will be quoting their witty lines and lessons they give for years to come.

These fun and clean shows are appropriate for children of all ages, carrying messages that build the character of the viewer like no other show can.  Topics like trustworthiness, telling the truth, diligence, and initiation are told in fun and captivating ways, sure to make impressions that last a lifetime.  Stories coupled with fun upbeat songs, create a dynamic that fuels learning well.

What’s In Your DVD?

There are two categories of DVD that you can purchase this as, Special Edition or Regular.  There is a third, Faith Collection.  Faith Collections offer 8 plus 2 bonus episodes on a disc, which include episodes previously released from other Regular or Special Edition products.  They are available for purchase as an entirely different product, whereas Auto-B-Good: Playing It Safe can be purchased as Special Edition, or Regular.

With the Regular edition you get the three episodes plus a bonus.  With the Special Edition you get the three same episodes and a bonus, but with each episode followed by a Christian music video.

Episode 1 – Monster Trap

Something may be wrong as EJ (a Morris Mini) thinks there might be a monster lurking around the City of Auto.  He can’t seem to convince anyone but his classmate Izzy (a BMW Isetta 300), who willingly shares in his curiosity.  Together they solve the mystery of what was lurking around.

Episode 2 – CARnival

You don’t need to ask someone to have fun at a carnival, but when everyone is asked to pitch in and help setup the old fashioned carnival, EJ is slow to join in.  Others take notice and help encourage him to be more helpful.

Episode 3 – Lug Nutt

The vaudeville team consisting of Lug Nutt and Dipstick come to the City of Auto, and Miles (a Volkswagen Kharman Ghia) learns crucial lessons about enthusiasm, and attitude and how they can take you towards success.

Bonus Episode – The Secret Force

EJ really wants a pair of Air Gordon soccer tires to help secure his scoring title.  He has a problem of money, but gets help and advice in an area he didn’t know he needed, initiation.

It takes great skill to be able to translate principles like selflessness, gratitude or initiation to young people, in words and ways that are relatable and memorable.  Modeling a character is definitely one way, but putting into words and acting out scenarios of observed character change is powerful for young kids.  They’ll have a chance to see from their seats how to make peace, be a self-starter, encourage others when they’re down, and have a chance for some of the those principles to be cemented in the form of catchy songs.

Another thing that makes this appropriate for kids of all ages (though not simple or slow enough for those under 2 years of age), is the speed and visual complexity.  It’s not a show that’s high paced, with fast cut-a-ways, or overwhelming color schemes that may actually detract from the script and message being conveyed.  It’s a great balance of top notch animation graphics that rivals any of the other shows out there, with a medium pace to the story.  Definitely geared, at least in language, to the younger crowd, but relevant to a much wider range of ages.  The way the script writers slowly work in the teachable idea is brilliant; it’s slow, engaging, and using simple enough language that the youngest of a bunch can latch on to.

Educators have found these to be invaluable tools to use in their classroom.  In fact over 9,000 schools have seen their ability to impart valuable life lessons and have received retail licenses for this product.  Whether it’s in a school, or in the home, or even in a theater, this series will inspire and educate young people in a way no other series can.

DVD’s are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what is offered by this company.  There are things to go along with this volume that you may find appropriate and interesting: interactive CD’s, storybooks, posters, and classroom related activities.  Lessons learned from these shows can be extended into a fully participatory activity through resources like these.  Are you an educator, homeschooler, a parent who just wants to take the conversation a bit deeper?  These resources and more can be reached at their webpage, www.autobgood.com.

Auto-B-Good shows are character-developing media produced by Wet Cement Productions based in Edina, Minnesota.  They are a 5-time Emmy Award winning series.  The series started to air in 2003.  Auto-B-Good is a great Christian series, that is clean, engaging and carries a message that develops the character of those viewing.  IMDb gives it a 7.8 stars out of 10.  Dove.com gives it 4 out of 5 doves.
