They used an incredible amount of items while filming, like 100,000 costumes, 8,000 extras, and 300 sets. Because Ben Hur's creators made this movie big, but most of all, the greatest Biblical-era classic ever.

Heston's compelling performance brought him the Best Actor Oscar. The winner of 1959's Best Picture, with the legendary William Wyler earning his third Best Director trophy, the film won an outstanding 11 Academy Awards!
